The new Second Edition of our best-selling Great War at Sea: Jutland adjusts the values of some of the ships included, the result of years of additional research and thought. Coast Defenders gives you updated pieces to reflect these values: fifty (50!) of them, all of them die-cut and silky smooth. We also gave them all-new artwork while we were at it - the same process that gives us those silky-smooth pieces gives such crisp reproduction that the old art simply will not do any more.
Do you need these pieces to play the game? No. In Great War at Sea games, a ship’s current qualities are kept on the Ship Data Sheets, and they will change as the ship accrues damage during the course of play (and sometimes change back as the brave crew effect repairs). These new pieces just make the game more fun. And More Fun is good.
And of course, we tell you their stories. The German Nassau-class dreadnoughts (not very good fighting ships, and too slow the escape the British dreadnoughts in a chase), German coast-defense ships (achingly slow, barely armored at all, with minimal armament - yet the Kaiser gave direct orders to take them to sea in 1914), British King Edward VII and Lord Nelson class pre-dreadnoughts (slower than advertised) and way more, too.
