Note: This version has no rules set or Tactical Map. You will need the rules and Tactical Map from another Second Edition Great War at Sea game. The game is not compatible with older rules editions.

Beyond the Bosphorus is a complete Great War at Sea game based on World War One naval operations on the Black Sea. It’s the introductory game for the series, and features some of the most intense (if little-known) naval actions of the war.

Like our other Great War at Sea games, Beyond the Bosphorus is all about the story. We’ll both tell you about the Black Sea campaign, and you can play it out on the map: the operations on the Black Sea, the battles that arose from those operations, and those that could have arisen.

You’ll read about the German battle cruiser’s sorties, the actions of the Russian Black Sea Fleet in response, and then you’ll play them. And we talk about the ships desired by the participants but never completed (and you get to play with those, too). All told you get 30 scenarios and 90 new pieces, die-cut and silky-smooth.

On the Central Powers side, Goeben out-classes anything the Russian Black Sea Fleet can match against her, at least initially. She’s faster, more powerfully armed and more stoutly armored than the old Russian battleships – which do boast excellent gunnery, but are otherwise slow and weak (but there are five of them, against just one Goeben). But the new Russian dreadnoughts are just as powerful, if not as fast. And you can try out the Turkish “stolen dreadnoughts” built in England but nabbed by Winston Churchill just before the war began – likewise, very powerful ships that can change the balance of power.

The Great War at Sea series began on the Black Sea, and it returns to those roots with Beyond the Bosphorus.
